New Year’s Resolution Templates + Tips for Achieving your Goals

Hey there, lovelies!

The New Year is almost upon us… that means it’s time to break out the confetti and storm up some goals you’d like to achieve in the coming 12 months!  It isn’t just New Year that calls for goal-making and determination, but instead these tips can always be used since there is no time like the present!  I know, resolutions can be a bit terrifying since they have a bad rep for never coming true, but I have a few tips that will help those wishes become reality along with templates I’ve created for those New Year plans.  🙂

Since making specific and planned out resolutions is super important, I’ve created some free, printable templates that can help you to achieve your goals!

Just click on the links below the templates to print!

I’ll definitely be filling this list out to hang on my wall as a reminder this year!

Goals-2

Remember, you don’t have to fill the whole thing up!  That would be a huge amount of resolutions… BUT just in case you’re feeling extra confident, I made sure to add lots of extra space for personalized goals and plans!

As I said before, resolutions are known for being difficult and never coming true, BUT it is possible to achieve them!  Here’s a few things that help:

  1. Make your goals specific.  Add details to loose goals, such as “I will go to the gym 2 times every week” instead of “I will be more active”.
  2. Make your goals attainable.  For example, try aiming for losing a reasonable amount of weight instead of a huge number that would be unattainable.  Impossible goals are discouraging and make it difficult to succeed.
  3. Try making smaller goals or “checkpoints” leading up to your main resolution.  This will help remind you how far you’ve come and keep your spirits up instead of dwelling on how far you may still have to go.
  4. This may seem obvious, but make sure to write down your goals!  Engrain them in your memory or even write them on your calendar.  Add them into your planner if you need reminders!  Also, you can compile a list of the things you’d like to accomplish and hang it on your wall or put it in a place you’ll look every day!
  5. Be prepared!  For example, if your goal is to eat healthy, make sure you have enough healthy options around to keep you on track!
  6. Lastly, don’t get discouraged if you don’t succeed immediately!  No one is perfect -just keep at it!  The only way to ever achieve accomplishments is by hardwork and a LOT of practice.

I always love writing out my new plans on New Year’s Eve!  My family likes to get into it, too.  Our tradition is to each write our goals on pieces of paper, stick them in a jar, and try to achieve them all by next New Year’s Eve when were dig the jar out again!  Then, we get to check off everything we accomplished… or write down the things that we didn’t on another piece of paper and try again!

This year, I’m aiming to spend more time on my blog and spread lots of positivity!  I’d also like a bit more confidence!  In the image below, I’ve compiled a list of a few more goals that I will definitely be aiming for in the New Year.  These goals aren’t specific, but I think that if my year consists of all these things, it will be a very successful one!  I’d love to hear some of your New Year resolutions in the comments below!

Resolutions Pin-2

I know, everyone always says this, but the year has whizzed by so quickly that I honestly can’t comprehend that 2016 is a few short days away! I know it will bring lots of good things and I can’t wait for all the new adventures that come!   I wish you nothing but the best in the following year!  Thanks so much for reading!  Good luck on your goals for 2016 and have a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hanna

What I’ve Learned About Blogging

Hey there, beauties!

It’s been a bit over a year since I created this little space on the internet, which I love so dearly.  My blog is still in its toddler stages, just beginning to take its first virtual steps, but has already taught me so much.  Learning to blog has been an amazing experience and I grow to love and enjoy it more and more every day.  (Sorry for the amount of cheese, but it really is true)  I love the photography aspect of it.  Typing up my thoughts on all kinds of beautiful things is something that I really enjoy.  I realized that there are quite a few things that I’ve learned thus far which are worth mentioning, so mention the things I shall.

what blogging taught me

  1. Make sure you’re proud before you publish.

There have been times where I wanted to put new content on my blog so badly that I hit that publish button before I actually made sure the post was something that I was confident in. This has resulted in a bit of regret and quite a few times of using the delete button. In my opinion, it’s better to post less often and be super proud of what you do put out there on the internet than to be posting constantly and not be happy with your content.

  1. It’s ok to not be perfect.

This may seem like it contradicts the first point, but don’t beat yourself up for not being the best at blogging –especially when you’re just starting out! If you stress too much about the perfection of each and every post, the life will literally be sucked out of you through your miserable, typing fingers. If you aren’t having fun, what’s the point? Blogging should be enjoyable. With every post, you’ll improve! Cut yourself some slack every once in a while and pat yourself on the back, because you are amazing.

  1. You make some great blogging buddies along the way.

As you continue to blog and make connections with people through the internet, it’s inevitable that you’ll make some great friendships! This makes blogging so much more fun. I am so glad that I’ve met such awesome people through this experience. It’s great to have internet pals that have your virtual back.

  1. Social media is really helpful… even though it can be a pain.

I have met so many amazing people who share my love for makeup and beauty through social media. It has helped me to grow my blog and connect with others. I am definitely not an expert on the topic and, honestly, social media stresses me out a bit, but Twitter and Instagram have really helped me out in the blogging department. Social media opens your doors to all kinds of opportunities!

  1. The more love you give others, the more you’ll get back.

If you find someone’s blog post interesting or entertaining, let them know! It is a great feeling to get feedback on the content that you put out there on the internet and, chances are, they’ll probably return your kind favor and check out some of your posts, too. So, spread the love, people, because everyone needs it.

Thank you so much for reading!  I hope that you enjoyed seeing what this blog has taught me!  Do you have a blog? What has it taught you?

XO,

Hanna

Products, Tips & Tricks to Make Your Makeup Last All Day

Hello, beauties!

I don’t know about you, but I always have struggled with my makeup wearing off through the course of the day.  I’m not exactly sure where it all goes… I guess it will always be a mystery.  However, a few discoveries have greatly improved the lasting power of my makeup and I thought I would share them with you along with a few tips to make your makeup last all day!

Long-Lasting Makeup

1. Prime!

I did not used to understand how important this step was.  Primer makes the perfect base for foundation to be applied on.  Finding a primer that counteracts any issues you have with your skin will help your foundation look its best and last much longer.  Using a primer puts a barrier between my foundation and my skin, which helps prevent breakouts.  I’ve noticed that when I don’t use it, I have more pimples since foundation is clogging my pores.

My favorite primer at the moment is The Body Shop’s InstaBlur.  IT’S AMAZING.  This primer controls the oil in my T-zone and blurs all of my pores!  Also, if you have trouble with your eyeshadow staying put, I recommend trying an eye primer.  For this job, I love MICA Beauty’s Eye Primer.  This primer is absolutely amazing at locking my eyeshadow on all day and making it look more pigmented.  A cult classic that I also love is Urban Decay’s Primer Potion!

The Body Shop Instablur MICA Eye Primer Urban Decay Primer

2.  Powder that T-zone!

Applying powder over your liquid foundation will set it in place so that it will not slip and slide.  If you have extremely dry skin, this step isn’t super important, but for all other skin types, I recommend at least applying a bit of powder to the T-zone area. I love BareMineral’s Mineral Veil since it does not make my makeup look cake-y.  It also comes in illuminating, hydrating, and tinted formulas, which I think is amazing!  BareMinerals Mineral Veil

3. Setting Spray!

This step isn’t completely necessary, but it is SO helpful in increasing the lasting power of makeup. If your makeup is looking cake-y, a spritz of this will work wonders in setting your foundation and powder to a smooth, flawless, and more natural finish.  A really helpful tip is to apply setting spray in between applying primer and foundation or right before powdering.  You can even apply this between every step for extremely long-lasting makeup!

I am loving Makeup Forever Mist & Fix Setting Spray at the moment.  I also highly recommend Urban Decay’s setting sprays!  I always buy the mini bottles at the check stand of Sephora since they are much cheaper and last forever!

Thank you so much for reading!   What products make your makeup last all day?

If you have oilier skin, I’ve done a post completely dedicated to long-lasting makeup products that combat oil!

Hanna

My Haircare Dream Team | Voluminous, Hydrated Hair

Hi there!

I have long, fine, extremely uncooperative hair.  It’s favorite styles are “tangled rat’s nest” and “floppy hair in my eyes”… that’s about it.   It won’t hold a curl and is difficult to do anything with.  You’ll usually find my hair straightened or in a (very) messy bun.  However, I’ve discovered a few products that have really amped up my hair game and make it much easier to deal with!  After using these lovely things, my hair looks voluminous, hydrated, and super shiny!  I find that after using my hair “dream team”, I don’t even need to use heat to style it since it already is so shiny and has absolutely no frizz!

IMG_4327 IMG_4319

Lush’s H’suan Wen Hua Hair Treatment

IMG_4313 IMG_4308

This hair treatment is my favorite haircare product to ever exist… Don’t ask me to pronounce this for you, because I will most definitely butcher the name and it will come out as a blob of gibberish.  Nevertheless, this product is sent from the heavens above.  After using it, your hair will feel like it has been kissed by angels.  I use this mask about 1-2 times per week.  I apply it to my hair while it’s dry and let is set for 20-30 minutes.  After I shower, my hair literally feels as soft as a baby’s butt… no wait, softer.  Not to mention the absolutely amazing scent it has!  This hair treatment smells almost like eggnog, but 10x better (if that’s possible).

Lush’s website says: It’s our version of a fresh face mask for the hair, with softening and moisturizing mashed bananas, avocados and olive oil, shine-enhancing balsamic vinegar and fresh eggs. Treat dull, damaged and dry hair right; feed it H’suan Wen Hua and bring it back to life.

Lush’s Big Shampoo

IMG_4342 IMG_4341 IMG_4343 IMG_4348

I really need help in the volume department, since my hair is so fine and has no body.  This shampoo fixes that problem for me! The grains of salt in this shampoo give my hair tons of volume and shine.  I love how this product soaps up and really cleans my locks!  To me, Summer is all about big, voluminous hair, so this product is very helpful during this time of year (or any season -voluminous hair never goes out of style;).

Lush’s website says: Over half the base of Big shampoo is made with sea salt, giving massive volume to hair in need of a boost. Sea salt is also full of minerals and de-greases hair, removing dead skin cells and dirt without stripping natural oils for a fresh, squeaky clean feeling. We balance the sea salt with seaweed infusion, extra virgin coconut oil and avocado butter for soft, nourished locks. Finally, fresh citrus juices are squeezed in for incredible shine. It’s no wonder this one is a best-seller!

Thanks so much for reading!  What products are in your “Haircare Dream Team”? 🙂

Hanna

Matte Lips 101 | Prevent Creasing and Flaky Skin

Hey there, lovelies!

With the Fall season coming up, I’ve been getting very excited about matte, Kylie Jenner-esque lipsticks!  If you have dry, chapped lips like me, you’ll know how much of a struggle it is to have matte lipstick look halfway decent and not settle into all the lines and flaky skin!  I’ve discovered a few things which make applying matte lipsticks SO much easier for me and today, I’d like to share them with you!

IMG_5120
Matte-5Matte-7

1. Exfoliate

IMG_5035IMG_5724 (1)IMG_6652-1
This may be the most important step!  If your lips are not exfoliated, the lipstick will make your lips look like a chapped mess.  I have a bit of trouble with flaky lips, so I regularly use Lush’s Bubblegum Lip Scrub, which smells absolutely amazing!  Also, I make my own DIY lip scrub that is super easy to make and happens to smell wonderful as well!

2. Moisturize

IMG_4277IMG_4289

Matte lip products will suck all the moisture out of your lips, so it’s very necessary to use some sort of lip balm before applying your lipstick!  This will prevent your lips from getting dried out underneath the matte lip product.  I absolutely LOVE Lush’s Ultrabalm and highly recommend it for anyone with dry, flaky skin!  This product can be used on the lips or any troubled, dry areas.  It’s very soothing and locks in moisture like no other product I’ve ever used!

3. Prime

IMG_6998

When applying any sort of lip product, it is very helpful to prep your lips with a thin layer of concealer or just plain old face primer.  Lip primers also exist, but I don’t think they are necessary when some of the products you probably already own will do the trick!  This will make the lipstick last longer, show the true color of the product more, and make the application easier.  I like to use Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Concealer or Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer.  You’ll be amazing at how much more smoothly the lipstick will apply with such a great base!

4. Line

IMG_9799

Lining your lips with make the application of your lipstick SO much cleaner, easier, and more precise.  It will prevent any bleeding or smudging of product and also increase the lasting power!  I am using my L’oreal Infallible Lip Liner in Rose, but I also recommend Makeup Forever’s Lip Line Perfector, since it is clear and works with any color of lip product.  It’s absolutely amazing at keeping your lipstick in place and preventing any bleeding of product!  It really does perfect the lips!  I think it’s a great investment if you’re into lip products and want something to make them last all day and look amazing!

5. Conceal

IMG_3755

After applying your matte lipstick of choice (Some of my fave’s are Gerard Cosmetic’s Serenity and Kat Von D’s Lovecraft) using a concealer brush or any small, precise brush you own, sharpen the edges of your lips and clean up any mistakes you may have made with some concealer.  This will really finish off your lips and make them look perfect!  Again, I’m using my trusty ol’ Naked Skin Concealer with a BareMinerals Concealer Brush.

Thanks so much for reading!  What are some of your tips for flawless matte lips? (Yes, that rhyme makes me very happy)

Hanna

Worth the Splurge? | My GlamGlow Mask Collection Review / Comparison

Hello, lovelies!

You have probably heard the rave about GlamGlow’s masks from beauty enthusiasts everywhere.  I have, too, so I obviously had to try them out!  Today, I’ll be telling you what I think of those I have in my collection!  Are they worth the splurge?  Let’s see, shall we?

IMG_5818 IMG_5829

Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment

IMG_5011 (1) IMG_5013 IMG_5016 IMG_5022

Price: $69

What it is formulated to do:
THIRSTYMUD™ uses the newest, most advanced, and extreme hydration active technologies. It moisturizes, restores, replenishes, and calms the skin. Dewdration™ boosts and locks in moisture for a dewy and youthful result while HydraPack™ leaves skin with an instant silky, soft, and supple feel. GreenEnergy™ smooths and energizes the skin, giving you a healthy-looking, glowing complexion

Suggested Usage:
-Use two to three times per week or when needed.
-Apply an even layer to clean, dry skin.
-Can be used on the face, neck, and chest.
-Daytime use: Leave on for 10 to 20 minutes, allowing product to absorb into the skin. Wipe off with tissue and massage remaining product into skin or rinse with water.
-Nighttime use: Leave on to infuse the skin with moisture and wake up with extremely hydrated skin.
-In-flight use: Apply at beginning of the flight and leave on for flight duration.

My opinion: I love the sleek packaging -It’s so beautiful!  As for the product itself, I think it is great for people with dry skin that is not too sensitive.  When my skin is  on the normal to oily side, this mask doesn’t really do much for me besides cause breakouts.  Keep in mind that my skin is extremely sensitive, so it can break out very easily.  It has a delicious coconut scent and leaves the skin feeling refreshed.  It feels almost tingly to my skin upon application and I love how amazing my skin feels when I rinse it off!  When my skin is dry, this is a great mask to use!

Recommendation: I would recommend this to anyone with drier skin that is not sensitive.

Worth the Splurge?: Depending on your skin type, it can be… but it is pretty pricey and I think there are probably better options out there than something so expensive! Again, my skin is so sensitive that I don’t get very positive results from masks often, so keep in mind that while this may not be worth the money to me, it might be a miracle worker for you!

Tinglexfoliate Mud Mask

IMG_5856IMG_5862 (1) IMG_5863 IMG_5867

Price: $69

It claims:
– Noticeable three-day glow from skin collagen synthesis.
-Helps diminish fine lines and wrinkles.
– Leaves skin brighter, smoother and softer.
– Offers multilevel resurfacing exfoliation and evens out skin tone.
– Helps tighten skin and minimizes pores.
– Absorbs impurities without removing natural oils.
– Helps protect against free-radical damage.

How to use:
– Apply a thin layer to clean face.
– Stir before use to liquefy.
– Expect a tingle-tactic tightening effect in 10 minutes or less.
– Remove mask with water in circular motions to exfoliate.
– Use twice a week or as often as desired.

My opinion: It dries out quickly, so I recommend buying the smaller, cheaper size that you will be able to use up before it hardens.  It has a tingling sensation on the face that slowly dies down.  It smells slightly like green tea to me and leaves the skin feeling a little tight.  This mask will bring all the imperfections to the surface.  Since my skin is so sensitive, I don’t love this one as it can be a bit harsh.  It’s great if you need something to draw out any pimples and clear up your skin.

Recommendation:  I would recommend this to anyone with normal to oily skin that isn’t too sensitive.

Worth the splurge?: In my opinion, and for my skin type, definitely not.  However, as I said, if your skin is not sensitive, then give the smaller size of this baby a go!

Supermud Clearing Treatment

IMG_5872

Price: $69

What it is formulated to do:
“This formula was clinically developed by GLAMGLOW® dermatological chemists to help fight all common skin concerns including breakouts, discoloration, black and white heads, razor bumps, and in-grown hair. Powerful, skin-clearing mud visibly draws out dirt and congestion while a proprietary six-acid blend dramatically brightens and softens skin. It works to magnetically draw out dirt and pores with Activated-X Charcoal, leaving skin smooth and healthy-looking.”

Suggested Usage:
-Apply a thin layer to clean skin.
-Leave on for five, 10, 15, or 20 minutes.
-Pore-Matrix™ will reveal dots of vacuum extractions.
-Remove with water.
-Use as often as needed.
-Use as a full mask or spot treatment.

My Opinion: This mask does everything that it claims!  Although the smell is a bit wonky, it clears out my pores and tightens them up.  It leaves my skin feeling super soft!  It really reduces the size of my breakouts and clears my skin!  Overall, I think it’s a great mask!  Again, it will dry out on you if you don’t use it quickly enough, so I really recommend getting the smaller size.  It’s also less cash that you have to spend, so even better!  I think this is great as a mask or spot treatment.

Recommendation: I would recommend it to all skin types that need help with reducing their acne and tightening pores.  If your skin is extremely sensitive, this may be a no-go for you, but other than that, it’s a pretty great product!

Worth the splurge?: This mask is pretty amazing, however the price is very high!  I think the smaller and cheaper ($19) version of this mask is the way to go since you won’t have to spend as much and it won’t all dry up before you can use the product!

Brightmud Eye Treatment

IMG_5003 IMG_5057  IMG_5052 IMG_5056

IMG_5061 (1) IMG_5073

What it is formulated to do:
Non-Dry Tapwipe™ Bioactive Mud consists of powerful actives that help minimize puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines while brightening and hydrating the eyes. Natural high bioactivity materials and bentonites absorb toxins delivering high nutrients and minerals essential for ultrabright, amazing eyes. Simply tap-on to deliver the range of advanced active ingredients into the skin then wipe-off, leaving a micro layer of actives for extended results.

Suggested Usage:
-Use one dual ChromeCell™ per use, two to three times per week or when needed.
-Close eye and tap on an even layer using the entire product under eye or orbital eye.
-Leave on for three minutes.
-Close eye and slowly wipe off with a soft, dry tissue, using a clean part for each wipe.

My Opinion:  This mask is absolutely amazing!  I get pretty dark circles under my eyes since I definitely don’t get enough sleep.  It brightens up my under eyes and decreases the puffiness SO. MUCH.  It’s insane how well it works!  I didn’t think this product would live up to its claims, but it has proved me wrong and I’m in love with it!  It feels really refreshing when you apply it and doesn’t have much of a smell.  It almost tingles on the skin and the sensitive edges next to my eyes do begin to sting a little after this has been sitting there for a few minutes, but it’s nothing extreme.  After rinsing, I’m always so impressed with the results!  It makes my face look like I got a full 8 hours of sleep!  The best part is that you can actually get two uses out of one pod since there is so much product there, which will give you 24 uses instead of only 12!

Recommendation:  If you have dark undereyes and never get enough sleep, I think that this product will work great for you!   However, if your eyes are super sensitive, they may be irritated by this product.

Worth the splurge?: The price is pretty insane for an undereye mask, I know… However, I found mine at Marshalls for $40 cheaper than the usual price!  I was hooked by the deal and decided to try it out!  I’m so glad that I did!  I don’t think I would repurchase this since it was so expensive, but if I ever find it at such a cheap price again, I will definitely be picking it up!  If you’re interested in buying this, make sure to check the Marshall’s beauty aisle as they have GlamGlow products pretty often!

Overall, I’d say that GlamGlow does have some amazing masks, BUT they are extremely expensive and, in most cases, I would recommend buying the smaller size to save money and be able to use up the product before it dries out.  Also, as I said before, be sure to check Marshall’s beauty aisle to see if they have any Glamglow masks at cheaper prices!  Their packaging is to die for and most of these masks smell absolutely amazing!  I recommend getting samples at Sephora and testing them out of your skin before committing to a whole bottle! I recently tried out PowerMud, which worked wonders on my acne, so I really recommend checking that one out!  It smells like heaven!

Thanks so much for reading!  Do you have any GlamGlow masks?  If so, which do you recommend and which aren’t so great?

XO,

Hanna

DIY Lip Scrub | Lush Dupe

Hello, lovelies!

Today, I will be showing you a super simple DIY lip scrub that I love!  It is made with household ingredients, so it is very convenient and cheap!  I love Lush’s lip scrubs as much as the next girl, but I actually prefer the ones I make myself and they are way cheaper since they’re homemade! This scrub smells amazing and is adjustable to whatever you might have on hand. Enjoy!

IMG_5748

www.LipstickLovely.com

You will need:

  • 1 TBSP Brown (or white) sugar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp coconut oil (or olive oil)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

IMG_5691 (1) IMG_5697 IMG_5698

Simply mix all of the ingredients together and feel free to adjust the amounts of ingredients to your liking until you get the perfect consistency and sugar-to-oil ratio.  Then pop the mixture into some cute containers and get scrubbing!

IMG_5700 (1)IMG_5715IMG_5732 (2)IMG_5727 (1)IMG_5724 (1)IMG_5719=

The sugar scrub will exfoliate all of the dead, flaky skin off of your lips, while the coconut oil moisturizes.  The honey gives the scrub a nice texture and scent and the cinnamon will increase blood flow to your lips causing them to be plumper after using the scrub!  The vanilla is optional along with the cinnamon, but I really recommend adding this to your scrub since it makes it smell SO amazing.

I hope that you all enjoy this simple DIY and try it out yourself!  It is my favorite lip scrub and I think you’ll love it, too!  Thanks for reading!

Hanna

Travel Beauty Tips & Tricks

Hello, beautiful people:)

Today, I’ll be sharing with you a few things that really help me out when traveling and make my life so much easier!  I hope that these tips help you out, too!

Screen Shot 2015-08-12 at 12.17.06 AM

  1.  Get samples of your favorite beauty products that are too big to travel with!  I hate packing a huge foundation bottle into my bag, so I head into Sephora and ask for a sample of all of my necessities that won’t fit in my suitcase.

IMG_4741

2. Keep all of your makeup essentials (concealer, mascara, and other main necessities) in a bag with you in your carryon just in case you need to fix up your makeup!

3. Wear all of your biggest clothing items onto the plane if you can.  If you want to pack boots and a jacket with you, simply wear them during the flight to save tons of packing space!

4. Bring lots of intense moisturizers!  Planes suck the moisture out of your skin, so make sure you pack night creams to apply either on the plane or once you reach your destination!  Don’t forget the hand cream, too!  My favorite moisturizing product for extra dry skin is Ultrabalm from Lush.

IMG_4761

5. Use little bags or pill containers to pack jewelry.  This keeps all those necklaces from getting tangled! I purchased these cute bags from Walmart for super cheap and they are great for this job!

IMG_5082 IMG_5078 IMG_5096 IMG_5099 IMG_5088 IMG_5086

6. Bring sanitizing and makeup wipes!   These wipes are both going to be a necessity while traveling.  You never know when you’ll need to wipe something up or clean off your hands!  Makeup wipes come in handy when you need to refresh your skin or take off your makeup during a red-eye flight!

IMG_4754

6. Pack your clothing in categorized ziploc bags; shirts in one bag, pants in another, etc.  This will make it easier to find what you need and also take up less space since you can smoosh the air out of the bags before packing them.  Bring extra for wet bathing suits, dirty clothes, or garbage!

7. Bring easy- to-use products such as lip and cheek stains and cream products.  My favorites are Benefit’s Lollitint,  Maybelline’s Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadows and NYX’s Cream Blushes.

3 Editing Apps You Need | How I Edit My Blog Pictures

Hello, lovelies!

Today, I thought I’d share with you the 3 apps that I use to edit pictures for my blog (and other places, too)!  Before I had a camera, these apps made it possible for me to still have decent-looking pictures even with an iPhone.  There are so many apps out there that it’s hard to know which ones are good and which aren’t, nonetheless how to use them!  I hope this is helpful to you!  🙂

By the way, my MAC Lipstick Giveaway is still open if you’d like to enter! ❤

edittt

1. Facetune.

Screen Shot 2015-07-25 at 3.20.15 PM

You may have heard of this one before, but I think it deserves all the rave that it gets.   This app is basically photoshop on your phone except 100000 times easier to use!

I use the “smooth” tool to smooth out any pores or imperfections on up-close eye photos.  Since I have dry, flaky skin, this really helps me!

IMG_1289 IMG_1290-1

I can also use the “patch” tool to cover up anything I don’t want in the picture.

IMG_1291-1 IMG_1292-1

I can give more detail to my lashes or anything in the photo that isn’t quite as in-focus as I would like it to be with the “detail” tool.

IMG_1293-1

There are many other amazing features on this app, but these are the main ones that I use. I try not to over-do the editing on my photos, just touch them up to look a little bit nicer before posting them.

This app costs $1 in the app store, but I think that it is totally worth it for how amazing it can make my pictures look and how easy it is to use!

I love using this app for lightening up my photos and giving them more contrast.  I typically use this for Instagram photos, but it’s great for any dark pictures that I want to give a little more life to before posting!

A way to simplify all of the editing steps in this app and make every picture I edit look similar is to use the “fusion” button in the filter section.

IMG_1318

Once you click that button, it records any actions you take -even adding filters!

IMG_1311IMG_1307IMG_1309IMG_1312

Once you’re done, press the “finish” button.  You then have a custom filter to put on every blog picture so that they all look uniform.  This saves me a lot of time!

IMG_1320IMG_1321

I don’t normally use the filters for my blog since I like to have my blog pictures true to the actual color of products, but these are great for Instagram!  My favorites are Mulberry, Coral, Relic, and Bright Fire.

If I want a cool layover on my picture to make it look older and more vintage, I go under the little filmstrip-looking section and select “Dusty”.  You can change the color of the dust from black to white and also change it’s transparency.  If I want a bright look instead, I head into the “Light Leak” section and select which layover I think would look the best.  I can change the placement of the light with the arrows and also have 7 different colors to choose from.

If I want to add a border, there are tons of options!  To make this photo fit Instagram, I chose one that makes it square-shaped.

This app costs $1.00 and is available for Android and iPhones.

3. Photo Collage.

IMG_1346

In order to fit my pictures into my blog’s featured image, I fill up a collage with pictures from my post and click the “Style” button.  I can change the border to the thickness I would like in the “Shape” section.

IMG_1345 IMG_1337 IMG_1338 IMG_1339

Next, I select “Ratio” and choose the dimensions that I want my collage to have.  In order to fit my blog’s featured image, I select 2:1, but for this example collage, I played around with a few different ratios to see what I liked best.

You can also add text to your pictures in this app if you like to do that for your blog pictures!  This is the best collage app that I’ve ever tried and the best part is that it’s free!

If you prefer to do your editing on your computer, I really suggest trying out http://www.PicMonkey.com, which is basically PhotoCollage on your computer instead of your phone!  It also includes some photoshop tools!

For an in-depth tutorial on how to use this website, check out Miss Remi Ashten’s video on how she edits her thumbnails for YouTube!  This video is what made me discover this awesome website and her video is very helpful in figuring it all out!  I used this website to make this post’s cover photo and Remi explains everything perfectly!

How I Apply Winged Liner | Products, Tips, and Tricks

Hello!

Firstly, I want to say a huge THANK YOU, because I hit 300 followers today and can’t believe that so many of you decided to hit that follow button!  I’m so glad to have you around.  Please make yourself welcome here, in my little space of the internet. ❤

Today, I’ll be showing you all how I do my winged liner!  Winged liner is a skill that has always been extremely difficult for me.  It really is an art and takes a long time to master!  I never understood how people could possibly apply liner so precisely without getting raccoon eyes, nonetheless somehow manage to get both wings even!  It has taken me a lot of experimentation and I’m still figuring things out, but I feel that I have come up with a pretty good collection of products that I can easily use to get my wing “so sharp it could kill a man”, as they say. 😉  I hope that this post helps you if you’ve had the same difficulties with eyeliner as I have!

*Psst*… If you want, you can enter my MAC lipstick giveaway. 😉

I start off by applying a pencil liner along my lash line.  This makes it much easier for me to make sure that one side of eyeliner is not much thicker than the other.  I have more control with eyeliner in the pencil form.  I have been LOVING NARS’ Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Via Veneto, because it is super black and pigmented, easy to apply and doesn’t smudge.  Also, it twists out of the tube so you never have to sharpen it!  This liner costs $25.

Next, to begin the wing-making process, I use my Zoeva 317 Wing Liner brush along with my Ulta gel eyeliner in Black, which normally costs $10, but is on sale for $3 right now!  I flick the brush from the outer corner of my eye upwards diagonally toward the end of my brow. I usually draw this line about 1/4 of an inch long.

IMG_3546 IMG_3547 IMG_3550 IMG_3518 IMG_3517 IMG_3553IMG_1255IMG_1249

After this thin, little flick is made, I take the same brush and gel and, starting from the top point of the flick, draw inwards, thickening up the wing. I also use the gel to sharpen up the liner along my lash line.  I clean up the edge with a small brush and some concealer.  Any little, precise concealer-type brush will do.  Mine is by Posh. 🙂

IMG_3561IMG_3560IMG_1240

To get that super sharp flick, I then take a liquid liner and ever so carefully flick out the very tip on my liner.  This part is the trickiest for me since liquid liner is so easy to mess up with.  One wrong move and you’ll look like a panda, which is why I only use liquid liner for the very point.  Mine is from L’oreal.

Aaand, we’re finished!  Doing all of these steps makes it much easier for me to make each eye even and sharp.  I hope this has been helpful to you!  What are your favorite products for winged liner!  Do you struggle with it, too?
