A Daytime Glam Eye Look: Neutral Shimmer

Hey there, beauties!

Today, we’re going ham on the glam (teehee) with this shimmery daytime eye look that is simple and fierce.  Who doesn’t love a little winged eyeliner and glittery eyeshadow every once in a while?  I think that this look is very appropriate for fall since it is made up of some gorgeous bronze shades, so I love wearing it during this season when my eyes need a little pop.  This look is really easy to achieve and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!

Daytime Glam Eye Look

First, I used my NYX Jumbo Pencil in the shade Iced Mocha to prep my eyes.  I blended the edges slightly to smooth out any harsh lines.

Next, I patted Urban Decay’s Space Cowboy all over my lid with a damp brush.  This eyeshadow is the meaning of glitter.  Using a damp brush helps to intensify the pigmentation of the eyeshadow and reduce fallout.

Afterward, I used the shades Naked and Buck from the Naked Palette and a fluffy brush to blend the previous shades into the crease.

Daytime Glam Eye Look

To deepen up the look a little more, I took the shades Whiskey and Password from the Naked Smoky palette and focused it on the crease and a bit of the outer V of my eye.

I then applied my L’oreal Liquid Liner and Ardell 117 Natural lashes along with using a mixture Urban Decay’s Thirteen and High from the Smoky Palette to highlight my brow bone and inner corners.

And that, ladies and gents, is the finished look.  I hope that you enjoyed this tutorial and that it was helpful to you!  I think that while this look is on the bolder side of things, it is still totally wearable for any kind of daytime event and isn’t overdone. Thanks for reading!

Another MAC Dupe: Amber Lights Eyeshadow

Hey there, lovelies!

Do you remember your very first MAC eyeshadow?  Mine was Amber Lights.  Since it was my first purchase from MAC, it holds a special place in my heart!  It is the most beautiful copper shade for fall and I still love it.  MAC’s eyeshadows are gorgeous and really fun to collect, but sadly, they are expensive which means that I don’t splurge on them often.  Finding affordable dupes for high end makeup makes me very happy, so I have decided to continue this little series and share another another perfect twin for an expensive product!  If you love this copper shade as much as I do, I hope you’ll enjoy finding a cheaper version!

 Amber Lights Dupe

Amber Lights Dupe

Top: MAC Amber Lights // Bottom: Milani Bella Copper

Milani’s Eyeshadow in the shade Bella Copper is the perfect match for Amber lights.  It is slightly darker and just a tad more sparkly, but it is hardly noticeable when on the eyes. Milani’s dupe costs $4.49, while MAC’s eyeshadow comes in at $16. I like each of these eyeshadows equally and think they look almost identical.  Neither of them have much fallout, although I can tell that MAC’s is just a bit higher in quality.  They are each super pigmented and long-wearing.  They may seem like a terrifyingly orange shade in the picture above, but I promise you that they are actually very wearable when applied on the eyelid.  They really bring out blue eyes, but also look amazing on any color!  I can’t get over this shade for fall accompanied by some gorgeous winged eyeliner!  I’ve already created a look with Amber Lights if you’d like to see it in action. 😉

MAC Amber Lights Dupe

Overall, I think that both of these eyeshadows are great!  MAC’s is a tad higher in quality, but the difference between the two shades is not that noticeable -especially when on the eyes.  I actually prefer that Bella Copper has more sparkle to it than Amber Lights since I love shimmery shades.  If you want to save some money on MAC eyeshadows, I recommend this dupe from Milani!  I am really impressed with the formula and I think you will be too!  There is hardly any difference between these two products and if you go for the cheaper version, you can save $10.50!

I hope that you enjoyed this post and that it has been helpful to you!  Are there any products you have discovered dupes for?  Are there any products that you’d like to see dupe’d?  Thanks so much for reading!

The Comparison: Duochrome Eyeshadows | MAC, Makeup Geek, and Urban Decay

Hey there, beauties!

Recently, I have been seeing eyeshadows all over the place that somehow have the magical power of being two shades at once.  THIS IS THE FUTURE, PEOPLE.  One shade (or should I say combination of shades) in particular caught my eye: warm brown mixed with teal shimmer.  I was so intrigued by this wondrous mix of colors that I quickly gathered myself a little collection.

I did not understand how a combination of such opposites could exist and somehow look flattering on my eyelids.  I had to test it out, and test it, I did.  I now have a plethora of eyeshadows in my collection with varying shades of rusty brown hues and teal sparkles.  I shall now do what obviously has to be done and tell you about my discoveries.IMG_8172

IMG_8155

Top: Urban Decay ‘Lounge’ Middle: MAC Blue Brown Bottom: Makeup Geek Havoc

MAC’s Blue Brown Pigment is something that I’ve heard quite a bit about.  I have never tried any of their pigments before, so I was extremely excited to bring this baby home.  It is super pigmented (as pigments tend to be 😉 and has a gorgeous shimmer to it.  At some angles, it is more of a rusty, brick red and, at others, a blue/purple sparkle.  I can’t get over how amazing it is.  The price for the full-sized bottle is $22, but for the smaller size that I picked up is just $10.  There is a ton of product in this little container, so it will last me forever!  Just a heads up: I suggest that if you are using this (or any) pigment, apply your eye makeup before doing the rest of your face so that you don’t have a ton of fallout getting all up in your foundation’s business.

IMG_8207        IMG_8172IMG_8181

Makeup Geek’s Duo Chrome Eyeshadow in Havoc is a similar color to MAC’s pigment, but is more on the warm side.  I can definitely see some more brick red/brown coming through with this one. It can be built up to have a teal shimmer, but is farther on the brown side of things than both of the other shadows here. For just $6, this product is such a steal!  It lasts all day and looks so stunning and shimmery!  Depending on how much of the product you apply, the color will look completely different, varying from a warm brown to sparkling teal.

IMG_8220 IMG_8165

Urban Decay’s eyeshadows always impress me with their high quality and this one is no exception.  You get what you pay for since they are on the pricier side of things, coming in at $19.  The shade ‘Lounge’ is extremely pigmented and bright.  It has more of a teal hue than both of the other eyeshadows, with a slight warm brown undertone.  It has a gorgeous shimmer that reminds me of mermaids.  I am in love with it.

IMG_8232 IMG_8169

Overall, I love each of these eyeshadows for different reasons and think that they all are amazing.  Urban Decay’s Lounge is a bit more teal than the others, MAC’s Brown Blue is more on the blue/purple side of things, and Makeup Geek is the warmest of them all, with the brick red/brown undertone being pretty visible.  Which is your favorite?

IMG_8149

Thank you so much for reading!  Have you tried any duo chrome eyeshadows?  What do you think of them? These shades might be a little much for everyday wear, but they are super fun to own and play around with on special occasions!

Hanna

Fall Favorites Collab with Valentina: The Eyeshadow Edition

Hey there, my beautiful people!

Fall… my favorite time of year.  The time where I get to put on beautiful autumn eyeshadows while dancing through the leaves with a pumpkin spice latte in hand.  I may not actually be providing you with a delicious PSL today, but I am however going to be showing the eyeshadows that I just can’t get enough of during this season of pumpkins and coziness.

This post is a collaboration with the beautiful Valentina Sofía (does she not have the prettiest name ever?), who will be sharing her top lipsticks for the season!  Her blog is amazing and you’ll definitely want to check it out!   Since our collab will inform you about the best products for eyes and lips, you’ll be set for fall! 😉 I hope that you enjoy!
My favorite fall eyeshadows My favorite fall eyeshadows

  1.  Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette in Little Sinner – I am absolutely in love with these eyeshadows for fall.  First off, they are SO pigmented and high quality.  The colors are gorgeous.  Just one swipe of these eyeshadows on your lids and BAM…  They’ll be covered in gloriously pigmented fall spirit.  Who doesn’t want that?  While this palette is only available on Amazon and Ebay now, extremely close matches to these shades are available in Kat Von D’s Metal Crush Collection.

  2.  Nars Soft Touch Eyeshadow Pencil in Corcovado – I love this eyeshadow pencil since it works perfectly as a base.  It also gives me a really nice glow on it’s own, with just a slight bit of color.  It’s perfect for those days where I just want a little sum’n sum’n on my eyes.  It’s a very natural gold shade with a little shimmer to it.Mars Gold Eyeshadow StickNARS Eyeshadow stick SwatchIMG_7774
  3. Benefit Cosmetic’s Creaseless Cream Shadow in My Two Cents – Again, as I just mentioned, I love eyeshadows that also function as bases.  They make life so much easier (at least the eyelid-priming-portion of it, anyway).  This copper shade screams fall.  It never creases on me even though it is a cream.  It’s super pigmented and also has some shimmer to it.  I use this on it’s own or underneath other shadows to give them a warm, copper glow.  It’s a really great base for MAC’s Amber Lights since it enhances the copper tone even more.Benefit My Two Cents SwatchBenefit My Two Cents Cream EyeshadowbareMinerals My Two Cents
  4. bareMinerals Eyeshadow in True Gold – This eyeshadow is SO sparkly.  If blinding everyone around you with the beauty of your disco ball eyelids is not your thing, this eyeshadow won’t be for you… but if it is, you definitely need this in your life.  The warm gold shade is perfect for fall.  It looks stunning on every skin tone and I highly recommend it!  Everyone needs at least one shimmery gold shadow in their stash.  It is a staple in my beauty collection -especially during this time of year!bareMinerals true gold eyeshadow bareMinerals true gold eyeshadow
  5. bareMinerals Eyeshadow in Bare Skin – Sometimes, in this season of cozy sweaters, you just need a nice purple shade.  BareMinerals’ eyeshadow in Bare Skin is just that -it’s sparkly, it’s purple, it’s beautiful.  The color is not overpowering; It has just that slight tint of color to it that really makes your eyes pop, but is still very wearable for everyday use.  It has a beautiful shimmer to it as well.bareMinerals bare skin eyeshadow bareMinerals bare skin eyeshadow

Even though the bareMinerals eyeshadows do have some serious shimmer to them, they are not filled with those annoying chunks of glitter that fall all over your face as many sparkly eyeshadows do. There is nothing more annoying than glitter fallout! These stay in place, are extremely pigmented, and very long-wearing.

All ‘Bout Them Neutrals | Clinique Wear Everywhere 8-Pan Palette

Hello, beauties!

I don’t know about you, but I can never have too many neutral eyeshadows.  They’re beautiful, go with every look, and never go out of style. Clinique’s Wear Everywhere Neutrals All About Shadow 8-Pan Palette is my new baby (whew, that name is a mouthful).  During the fall, I gravitate towards warmer neutrals and that is exactly what this palette includes, along with some cool-toned browns and a range of highlight shades… basically, it has every neutral you’ll ever need and includes “soft” and “super shimmer” shades along with a matte shadow as well!  This palette is all kinds of gorgeous and I can’t wait to show you!

From left to right:

  • NEW Alabaster (Soft Shimmer)
  • Daybreak (Super Shimmer)
  • NEW Moroccan Brown (Soft Shimmer)
  • At Dusk (Super Shimmer)
  • NEW Sahara Sun (Super Shimmer)
  • NEW Jute Brown (Soft Shimmer)
  • Seashell (Soft Shimmer)
  • NEW Chocolate Bark (Matte)

Price: $36

Packaging:  The packaging of this palette is my favorite of any palette I’ve ever owned!  It is incredibly compact and the perfect size for travel.  The mirror inside is large, which is a huge plus.  I cannot get over how sleek and gorgeous it is!

clinique neutral eyeshadow palette

Formula: These eyeshadows are extremely pigmented.  They are super creamy and blend really well.  Every single color in this palette is stunning.  I love the range of “soft” to “super” shimmers as I love that kind of eyeshadow.  The soft shimmers are very similar to a satin finish with more of a glow, which I love.  Even though this palette includes very shimmery shades, they do not have chunks of glitter in them, which I always despise.  There is no sparkly fallout when using them.  (Yay!)  I am very glad that Clinique included at least one matte shade, since it is always nice to have a darker matte shadow to use as liner or to deepen up the crease.

clinique neutral eyeshadow swatches

Recommendation:  I recommend this palette to absolutely everyone.  If you don’t have any eyeshadow palettes, I think this one is the way to go since you will get a little bit of everything!  Everyone can use a few more neutrals in their life, so I recommend this to all you makeup junkies out there -you’ll get tons of use out of it, you can travel with it, and it is super high quality.  I honestly believe I could live off of this palette and this palette alone.  I am an eyeshadow junkie, so that is saying something! 😉

Thank you so much for reading!  I hope that you enjoyed this post!  Do you have any neutral eyeshadow palettes?

Hanna

A Collaboration with Beauty Bunny! | My Top 5 Fall Makeup Products

Hello, lovelies!

Today, I am collaborating with Savannah from Beauty Bunny to show you our top 5 fall makeup products!  Savannah’s blog is amazing, so you definitely need to check it out and see all of her fall favorites as well!  I am super excited to show you the makeup I’ve been loving for my favorite time of year, so let’s get right to it!

Fall Makeup

  1.  ModelCo Cosmetics Shadow Sticks in the shades Costa Rica, St. Barts, Portofino, and Purple Haze.  I am counting these as one favorite instead of four since they came in a kit together in my Love Me Beauty bag.  These eyeshadows are SO pigmented, easy to use, and blend super smoothly.  They don’t crease like most cream shadows tend to over the day.  I don’t even need primer under these!  They dry/set on your eyelids after a few minutes and won’t ever budge.  I’m pretty sure these things are waterproof, because the swatches were extremely difficult to wash off of my hand! ModelCo Cosmetics Eyeshadow   ModelCo Cosmetics Eyeshadow   ModelCo Cosmetics Eyeshadow
  2. Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Solow

Fall is all about those matte lipsticks, so I have been enjoying Colourpops Ultra Matte Lip in Solow.  It’s a natural shade that goes with any makeup look!  It’s extremely easy to apply and I’m in love with it.  I’ve done a post further in depth on these liquid lipsticks since I was so intrigues by all the buzz about Colourpop and had to give them a go myself! colourpop liquid lipstickcolourpop liquid lipstick

3.  Clinique Blush in Sunset Glow

This blush is perfect for any season and looks great with any makeup look.  I love the slight shimmer it has to it.  It is a beautiful mauve color that actually has a bit of a coral tint to it in person.  It’s a difficult shade for me to describe, but I think it’s gorgeous and will definitely be wearing it a lot this fall (and all year round;).

4.  M.A.C. Eyeshadow in Amber Lights

To me, fall means warm, shimmery eyeshadow.  This is just that!  I love this shade in any season, but during the fall I really go ham on it and wear it almost every day.  It may look intimidating, but upon application, I think it seems a little more on the bronze side than an overpowering orange color.  I highly recommend it and think it’s well worth the investment!  I’ve even done a post on my go-to fall eyeshadow look primarily using this shadow, because I am in love with it!

5.  Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eyeliner in Bourbon

Normally, I am not a huge fan of bold eyeliner for my eyes, so I like to go for more natural looking colors such as brown.  I am in love with the formula of Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-on Eyeliners, since they are super creamy and easy to apply, but also set in place after a few minuets and never smudge on me.  This eyeliner is in the shade Bourbon, which has a slight gold shimmer to it.  The formula of this eyeliner is so creamy that I even like to use it as eyeshadow and blend it al over my eyelid.  I wear this pretty much every day that I put on makeup during the fall!

Amber Lights | Warm Fall Eyeshadow

Hello, lovelies!

I don’t know about you, but during the fall, I LOVE wearing warm, sparkly shadows to embrace the season.  Amber Lights from MAC is a beautiful shade that does just that!  Since I love it so much, I have based this fall-inspired eye look around it!  This eyeshadow really brings out blue eyes, but also looks amazing on any eye color.  I highly recommend picking it up if you’ve been on the lookout for an autumn eyeshadow!  Let’s get into the tutorial!

Eyeshadow Tutorial

  1.  I applied Makeup Geek’s Peach Smoothie and Barcelona Beach to the crease of my eye.  This doesn’t have to be exact; I like to blend these shades out a little through the lid with a big, fluffy blending brush.  This will be the transition shade and make other shades easier to blend.

4.    To make the eye a little smokier, I blended Cocoa Bear along the outer edge of the lower lash line.

5.    Next, I blended Amber Lights in the middle of the lower lash line.

6.    I then highlighted my brow bone and inner corner with Urban Decay’s Thirteen.

7.    To give my eye more definition, I applied Urban Decay’s Bourbon Eyeliner to the lash line and smudged it out.

8.    Lastly, I applied Sephora’s Outrageous Curl Mascara with Ardell 120 Lashes.

Voila!  This look is super quick and easy to do!  It’s perfect for this season and made me feel really festive and excited for fall!

How I Apply Winged Liner | Products, Tips, and Tricks

Hello!

Firstly, I want to say a huge THANK YOU, because I hit 300 followers today and can’t believe that so many of you decided to hit that follow button!  I’m so glad to have you around.  Please make yourself welcome here, in my little space of the internet. ❤

Today, I’ll be showing you all how I do my winged liner!  Winged liner is a skill that has always been extremely difficult for me.  It really is an art and takes a long time to master!  I never understood how people could possibly apply liner so precisely without getting raccoon eyes, nonetheless somehow manage to get both wings even!  It has taken me a lot of experimentation and I’m still figuring things out, but I feel that I have come up with a pretty good collection of products that I can easily use to get my wing “so sharp it could kill a man”, as they say. 😉  I hope that this post helps you if you’ve had the same difficulties with eyeliner as I have!

IMG_1265 IMG_1266

Screen Shot 2015-07-24 at 7.29.56 PM IMG_2436

*Psst*… If you want, you can enter my MAC lipstick giveaway. 😉

I start off by applying a pencil liner along my lash line.  This makes it much easier for me to make sure that one side of eyeliner is not much thicker than the other.  I have more control with eyeliner in the pencil form.  I have been LOVING NARS’ Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Via Veneto, because it is super black and pigmented, easy to apply and doesn’t smudge.  Also, it twists out of the tube so you never have to sharpen it!  This liner costs $25.

IMG_3585 IMG_3581IMG_3575 IMG_3574IMG_1238IMG_1239

Next, to begin the wing-making process, I use my Zoeva 317 Wing Liner brush along with my Ulta gel eyeliner in Black, which normally costs $10, but is on sale for $3 right now!  I flick the brush from the outer corner of my eye upwards diagonally toward the end of my brow. I usually draw this line about 1/4 of an inch long.

IMG_3546 IMG_3547 IMG_3550 IMG_3518 IMG_3517 IMG_3553IMG_1255IMG_1249

After this thin, little flick is made, I take the same brush and gel and, starting from the top point of the flick, draw inwards, thickening up the wing. I also use the gel to sharpen up the liner along my lash line.  I clean up the edge with a small brush and some concealer.  Any little, precise concealer-type brush will do.  Mine is by Posh. 🙂

IMG_3561IMG_3560IMG_1240

To get that super sharp flick, I then take a liquid liner and ever so carefully flick out the very tip on my liner.  This part is the trickiest for me since liquid liner is so easy to mess up with.  One wrong move and you’ll look like a panda, which is why I only use liquid liner for the very point.  Mine is from L’oreal.

IMG_3571IMG_3532IMG_3535IMG_1237

Aaand, we’re finished!  Doing all of these steps makes it much easier for me to make each eye even and sharp.  I hope this has been helpful to you!  What are your favorite products for winged liner!  Do you struggle with it, too?

Makeup Geek Haul + Swatches!

Hi there, beauties:)

Today, I received a glorious package in the mail, full of Makeup Geek goodness that I can’t wait to show you all.  I’ve never used any of their products before, so I am really excited to try them out!  Let’s get to swatching!:)

IMG_3277IMG_3145

First, I picked out Barcelona Beach, because I am obsessed with cool-toned, matte browns and have been going through withdrawals since I ran out of Urban Decay’s Tease in my Naked 2 Palette.  I think this will be a great dupe for that shade!  This color is flattering on my skin tone is the perfect crease color!

IMG_3157IMG_3151IMG_3153

Next, I HAD to pick up the shade that EVERYONE talks about… Peach Smoothie!  This is a shade used religiously by some of my favorite YouTubers, so needed to try it myself.  I must say, after swatching it on my hand, I am already beginning to fall in love with this shadow… It is SO. PIGMENTED.  I’m sure it will be an amazing transition color and can’t wait to test it on my eyes!

IMG_3165IMG_3262 (1)IMG_3167 (1)

Homecoming is a beautiful, shimmery brown shade with a slight purple-ish tint to it.  I am OBSESSED with this color.  I have heard so many amazing things about this shadow and I know that I will be wearing it all the time!

IMG_3257IMG_3258 IMG_3259 (1)IMG_3175

Cocoa Bear is another very popular shade that I have seen used many, MANY times by YouTubers such as Jaclyn Hill.  I’ve always thought this shade looked so beautiful and I  was missing a warm, brown, matte shade in my collection.  This fixes that problem!

IMG_3267IMG_3266 IMG_3271IMG_3181

Lastly, I had to try out one of Makeup Geek’s Renowned Blushes!  I decided to go for Romance, since peach-y, shimmery blushes are my LIFE.  This blush looks almost like a warmer highlight shade when swatched on my hand and I’m really looking forward to seeing it on my face!

IMG_3254IMG_3255IMG_3250IMG_3229

I picked out a medium-sized, black Z palette to put my shadows and blush in. It comes with a bunch of magnets so that you can de-pot anything that you want and have it conveniently stored!  I am really excited to de-clutter my makeup collection and start putting all of my favorite things in this little palette to save space (and sanity)!

IMG_3299

My first impression of these products is that they are extremely pigmented and creamy.  I am really impressed with the formula and super excited to try them out on my face!  I have heard that these shadows are better than MAC -and for only a third of the price!  These eyeshadows cost $5.99 and the blushes cost $9.99.  I am really impressed with the quality of these products and how affordable they are!

IMG_3277IMG_3281IMG_3291IMG_3229IMG_3193IMG_3194

Thanks so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed!  Have you tried any Makeup Geek products?  If so, what do you think of them?  Are the shadows dupes for MAC in your opinion?

XO,

Hanna
