Hey there, beauties!
Recently, I have been seeing eyeshadows all over the place that somehow have the magical power of being two shades at once. THIS IS THE FUTURE, PEOPLE. One shade (or should I say combination of shades) in particular caught my eye: warm brown mixed with teal shimmer. I was so intrigued by this wondrous mix of colors that I quickly gathered myself a little collection.
I did not understand how a combination of such opposites could exist and somehow look flattering on my eyelids. I had to test it out, and test it, I did. I now have a plethora of eyeshadows in my collection with varying shades of rusty brown hues and teal sparkles. I shall now do what obviously has to be done and tell you about my discoveries.

Top: Urban Decay ‘Lounge’ Middle: MAC Blue Brown Bottom: Makeup Geek Havoc
MAC’s Blue Brown Pigment is something that I’ve heard quite a bit about. I have never tried any of their pigments before, so I was extremely excited to bring this baby home. It is super pigmented (as pigments tend to be 😉 and has a gorgeous shimmer to it. At some angles, it is more of a rusty, brick red and, at others, a blue/purple sparkle. I can’t get over how amazing it is. The price for the full-sized bottle is $22, but for the smaller size that I picked up is just $10. There is a ton of product in this little container, so it will last me forever! Just a heads up: I suggest that if you are using this (or any) pigment, apply your eye makeup before doing the rest of your face so that you don’t have a ton of fallout getting all up in your foundation’s business.

Makeup Geek’s Duo Chrome Eyeshadow in Havoc is a similar color to MAC’s pigment, but is more on the warm side. I can definitely see some more brick red/brown coming through with this one. It can be built up to have a teal shimmer, but is farther on the brown side of things than both of the other shadows here. For just $6, this product is such a steal! It lasts all day and looks so stunning and shimmery! Depending on how much of the product you apply, the color will look completely different, varying from a warm brown to sparkling teal.

Urban Decay’s eyeshadows always impress me with their high quality and this one is no exception. You get what you pay for since they are on the pricier side of things, coming in at $19. The shade ‘Lounge’ is extremely pigmented and bright. It has more of a teal hue than both of the other eyeshadows, with a slight warm brown undertone. It has a gorgeous shimmer that reminds me of mermaids. I am in love with it.

Overall, I love each of these eyeshadows for different reasons and think that they all are amazing. Urban Decay’s Lounge is a bit more teal than the others, MAC’s Brown Blue is more on the blue/purple side of things, and Makeup Geek is the warmest of them all, with the brick red/brown undertone being pretty visible. Which is your favorite?

Thank you so much for reading! Have you tried any duo chrome eyeshadows? What do you think of them? These shades might be a little much for everyday wear, but they are super fun to own and play around with on special occasions!

Hanna
