Today, I am going to be sharing with you some great ways to make your makeup oil-proof! Even if your skin-type is not oily, these products are still good to have on a hot day where your skin might get a little on the greasy side. I have pretty oily skin and have come across a few products over time, which have completely upped my makeup makeup game! It no longer melts off my face! Yay! I often still go for more of a dewy look in the summertime, but these products keep the dewiness under control, so I don’t become an oily mess, but instead a controlled dewy goddess. I hope that these products can help you out, too! All of the products mentioned will be linked at the end of the post along with the cost of each one! Enjoy! 🙂
Starting off, we have the De-Slick Setting Spray, by Urban Decay. Urban Decay is pretty much my favorite makeup brand of all time, so I decided to try out their setting spray about a year ago after hearing everyone rave about it so much. Let me just say… It’s worth the rave. IT IS AMAZING. This stuff is magic in a bottle! It will set your makeup and keep it from getting oily ALL. DAY. Also, it’s not super expensive! I always buy the smaller bottles, because they last me a long time and I don’t have to pay as much!
A tip I have for using this product is to not only use it when you’ve just finished putting on your makeup, but instead spray it a few times in between layers; Prime your face and spritz a little of the setting spray, then apply foundation and add maybe another spray or two, and lastly, finish with your setting powder and a little more spray. You don’t have to go crazy and spray half the bottle; just a little will do the job! Also, if you’re worried that the spray will feel sticky, it doesn’t at all! You can’t tell anything has been sprayed onto your lovely, oil-free face. 🙂 And if you find that your skin doesn’t get oily easily, you probably won’t even want to spray in between layers, you can just use it to finish off your makeup! That is just a tip for especially long and hot days or extra oily skin. Spraying between layers has been a life-saver for me!
Our next item is a setting powder that I recently discovered and immediately fell in love with… Benefit’s The Porefession Agent Zero Shine Powder. Again… AMAZING. I honestly do not understand how I ever lived without this product! When it says zero shine, it really means it! It makes my makeup still look fresh even after a long day, because it sets everything in place and doesn’t let it budge! Something I absolutely LOVE about this product is the packaging!! I have always loved Benefit’s cute packaging, but I am especially in love with this bottle! The bottom unscrews, revealing a cute, little, built-in brush! This makes the powder perfect to travel with or to just throw in your purse if you know you’ll need some touchhing-up during a long day. No extra brush necessary; just throw in the little bottle of powder and go!
Lastly, this product is perfect for those girls out there with oily eyelids! This might sound weird if you don’t have that problem, but if your skin-type is oily, you’ve probably experienced eyeshadows that seem to just disappear and makeup that never stays on your eyes. It’s annoying, isn’t it?! Luckily, they’ve found a cure!… *drumroll* Eyeshadow primer!! *jazz hands* Any kind of eyeshadow primer will help with the problem of shadows not staying put, but in my opinion, Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion is the best! They have many different formulas, but my favorite is just the good, trusty, ol’ original that comes in the purple bottle. If you use this, your eyeshadow is going to stay in place ALL. DAY. Just as with the setting spray, I buy this in the smaller and cheaper size, because it lasts forever and I don’t have to fork out as much moolah all at once! 😉
A tip for using this primer (or any eye primer, really) is to also put a little under your eyes, if you find that your under eye concealer is budging or just not doing a very good job! I guarantee it will work a LOT better, with this as it’s base!
